Peanut & Crumb were commissioned by the BBC to create ‘Massimo Boturra: The Picasso of Pasta’. Throughout the feature we delve into the fascinating world of Massimo Bottura, the visionary chef behind Osteria Francescana, which has been twice crowned the world’s best restaurant. Nestled in Modena, a city famed for its racing cars and balsamic vinegar, this triple Michelin-starred restaurant seamlessly merges traditional Italian cuisine with avant-garde artistry.

Bottura, a pioneer of the culinary movement that views food as edible art, draws inspiration from iconic artists, even showcasing his work at Paris’ Palais des Beaux-Arts. Food journalist and cookbook author Emiko Davies and Peanut & Crumb Producer, Jude Shapiro spend an immersive weekend in Modena with Bottura and his wife, Lara Gilmore, offering listeners an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at Bottura’s creative process, from the bustling kitchen to the thrill of driving a sports car, revealing how he channels his passion for art and design into groundbreaking culinary masterpieces.

Fifty years ago, Stevie Wonder released his finest masterpiece in a career full of them. Innervisions is regularly voted as one of the top ten LPs of all time, of any genre. Days after its release, Stevie – still just 23 years old – was on the promo tour in North Carolina. He sat in the passenger seat of a rental car listening to his new record on headphones when he drifted asleep. Suddenly the automobile collided with a truck, plunging Stevie into a coma.

This is the story of the day we almost lost Stevie, just at the moment when America – and the world – needed him most. It’s also the account of how that iconic body of work, Innervisions, bridged Stevie’s transition from child star to voice of the people, cementing his place as one the greatest of all time.

“Very cleverly produced – bold and arresting with a terrific cast of contributors” Hugh Levinson, BBC Radio 4.

The feature explores his engagement with avant-garde art and his critical reflections on postwar Japanese society.
